Mission Statement - We Commit to Responsibly Extracting Value from the Land Creating Community Prosperity for Generations.

Southern Ionics Minerals LLC is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Southern Ionics Incorporated, an innovator and leading manufacturer of specialty and intermediate inorganic chemicals based in West Point, Mississippi ( www.southernionics.com ). Southern Ionics Incorporated produces various zirconium chemical products, all of which are made from a basic chemical called zirconium oxychloride. Currently, the only sources of zirconium oxychloride, produced from zircon mineral sands, are foreign suppliers leaving Southern Ionics in need of a reliable domestic source in order to meet its production contracts. In looking for an American supplier, Southern Ionics realized that zircon sand has been mined in Georgia and Florida for more than fifty years. A team was assembled consisting of mining, mineral processing and environmental experts to mine and process mineral sands in a responsible manner, ensure zirconium oxychloride supply for Southern Ionics with production of zircon mineral sand, and to sell zircon and titanium minerals to other manufacturers.

Southern Ionics Minerals LLC (SIM) consists of sixty employees with three key business locations:

SIM is led by a diverse team with more than 200-years of combined experience in mineral mining, environmental resource management, mineral processing, and sales. SIM has obtained permits from the Georgia Environmental Protection Division for two mines with operations underway at Mission South Mine in Charlton County, Georgia and plans underway for 2015 construction of Mission North Mine in Brantley County, Georgia. Each mining operation includes a wet concentrator plant (wet mill) that separates the valuable mineral sands from the quartz sand producing a mineral sand concentrate. The mineral sand concentrate is then shipped off-site by truck to the Offerman Mineral Sand Plant (Dry Mill) under construction in Pierce County, Georgia where it will be further processed into the individual mineral sand products: zircon, rutile, leucoxene, and ilmenite.

Southern Ionics has worked closely with state and local stakeholders, including government officials, community and business leaders, conservation groups, and regulators throughout the mine planning and permitting phases. We will continue to raise the bar with industry leading mining practices for safety, environmental stewardship, and community/stakeholder relations guaranteeing consistent production of premium quality titanium and zircon mineral products.
